Security

In our school one of the main principles is to ensure the security of our wards. That is why…

  • the school is monitored by a security agency round the clock
  • the facility is monitored by a camera system
  • a private ambulance is contracted
  • we take care of the fire protection system and regularly practice fire drills
  • our teaching staff is trained in providing first aid
  • we provide continuous care of psychologist and school counsellor
  • we insure our students against accidents
  • we teach the rules of safety and healthy living

Faculty

The people who make our promises a reality

The teaching faculty at Wroclaw International School is experienced, certified and highly qualified. The majority of the faculty members are native speakers of English, coming from Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, Ireland and the United States. Additionally there are teachers from Poland, South Korea and France, as well as a Korean liaison who supports the biggest community at the school.

All teachers are university graduates with MA or BA diplomas. All of them are experienced international educators. The teacher – student ratio is very comfortable compared to other international schools. 27 teachers teach 100 students. Small classes with a maximum capacity of 18 students enable the teachers to focus on their student’s individual needs.

Professional development and continuous learning are integral to the success of the academic programs at Wroclaw International School. As such, professional development at the school is viewed as a sustainable and shared process, which enhances the entire learning community. Each year the faculty members take part in professional workshops organized by ECIS and IBO.

Experience matters

WIS is the oldest international school in Lower Silesia (est. 2002) and has the honor of being the first school in Poland authorized as an IB World School (since 2010) to deliver both the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) programmes. The school is based on 30 years of modern educational experience of schools run by Foundation for International Education (F.I.E.), a Polish public charity organization.

Many classes of our graduates continue their education in our sister – school International High School of Wroclaw (located in the same campus). Many of them are doing great in their professional and social life today, admitting how much they own to the school and WIS teachers.

Our faculty is a carefully selected and truly international team of experienced professionals from all over the world, specializing in bilingual and international teaching and constantly developing their pedagogical skills and improving teaching techniques, thanks to participation in the IB and other workshops on a regular basis.

In September 2007 already the school began implementing the PYP and the MYP. As of May 2011 Wroclaw International School was the first and only school in Poland authorized to offer both the International Baccalaureate programmes. In 2015 the school was certified to deliver also the IB Diploma Programme. Today the IB DP is realized in WIS sister-school International High School of Wrocław, run by the same governing body – Foundation of International Education.
