Children aged 4 may be eligible for admission to Pre-Kindergarten. In all cases, age must be confirmed by providing a copy of the child’s passport or birth certificate.
Students applying for Kindergarten to MYP 5 [Grade 10] who have successfully completed a full academic year at their current grade level, either in their national system or at an international school, may be placed in the next appropriate grade at WIS, provided that the required school records are submitted. WIS also follows age guidelines when determining suitable grade placement and reserves the right to assess students where necessary.
Placement is based on developmental readiness, taking into account physical, social, emotional, intellectual and academic development. For admission to MYP 3 to MYP 5 [Grades 8 to 10], students are expected to have an appropriate level of English. Non-native English speakers may be asked to complete an English language assessment before a final admissions decision is made.
After admission, students entering MYP 3 to MYP 5 are asked to meet with the Counsellor or Head of School to discuss subject choices and timetabling before classes begin.
