Green Flag for WIS – Leading the Way in Environmental Education

It is our great pleasure to share some extremely exciting news:
Wrocław International School – together with our partner schools ATUT Bilingual Primary School and International High School of Wrocław – has been awarded the Green Flag by the Eco-Schools Foundation!

This international distinction recognises institutions that demonstrate excellence in environmental education and sustainability. We are incredibly proud to be the first international school in Wrocław, and among the first in Poland, to receive this prestigious recognition.

Over the course of the last academic year, our school community worked tirelessly to further develop and refine our already strong green ethos. We explored meaningful ways in which we could lead by example – not only by teaching about environmental responsibility, but by embedding it into everything we do.

Our students were at the heart of this journey. Their ideas, energy, and passion helped shape our goals and actions – from campaigning for improved recycling facilities and designing wildlife habitats, to gardening, reducing waste, and supporting biodiversity on our campus.

Thanks to this shared commitment across WIS, ATUT, and IHSW, we now join a global network of Green Flag schools – organisations that place sustainability at the core of their values and daily practices.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all students, staff, and families who supported this initiative. Special appreciation goes to our Sustainability Committee: Mrs Jill Beniek and Mr Jordan Hughes from WIS, Olivia Dycewicz (ATUT), and Karolina Sandak (IHSW).

From our solar-powered facilities to outdoor learning spaces and conservation efforts, WIS continues to grow as a leader in inclusive, sustainable education.

This award is just the beginning. Together, we will continue to grow greener and inspire environmental responsibility across our schools and beyond.🌿
