The WIS House System – Building Community Beyond the Classroom
The WIS House System is an important part of school life, bringing students together beyond their usual classrooms and grade levels. It is a unique programme designed to build community, encourage collaboration and strengthen students’ sense of belonging.
Students from PYP and MYP belong to one of four Houses: Forests, Castles, Rivers or Bridges. Through challenges, activities and school events, mixed-age teams work together, earn points and develop their communication, cooperation and team-building skills.
The House System also recognises students’ everyday attitudes and engagement. Points and coins can be earned not only through organised challenges, but also by demonstrating the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and contributing positively to school life.
The programme extends beyond friendly competition. At the end of each school year, House coins are converted into real funds and donated to children from Wiosna Orphanage in Krzydlina Mała, a partner institution supported by WIS for more than 15 years.
The House System brings together students of different ages, encourages active participation in school life and shows how collaboration, school spirit and everyday actions can make a meaningful difference.
