Poland Through the Lens of the Immigrant and Solidarity (Solidarność) Experience
Our students set off on an inspiring journey from Wrocław to Gdańsk and Gdynia (as parts of Polish Tri-City) as part of their study of The Immigrant Experience. This trip wasn’t just about traveling – it was a powerful, hands-on lesson in history, culture, and the human stories that shape our world.
We stayed in a cozy guesthouse in Rewa, which served as the perfect base for our visits.
In Gdynia, we explored the Museum of Polish Emigration, where students learned about the journeys, challenges, and hopes of Poles who left their homeland in search of new opportunities.
The next day, we travelled to Gdańsk to visit the European Solidarity Centre, an extraordinary place documenting the path to freedom and the power of social solidarity. We also enjoyed a walk through the beautiful Old Town, taking in its rich history and unique atmosphere.
It was a trip full of learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations. It’s an experience our students will remember for a long time.
From the surveys conducted among the students, it appears that they really enjoyed visiting both museums, exploring the Old Town in Gdańsk, and they were also delighted with traveling by train across Poland.
